"...the Relator theme pulls you toward people you already know...you do derive a great deal of pleasure and strength from being around your close friends...Once the initial connection has been made, you deliberately encourage a deepening of the relationship." - pg 110 from Now, Discover Your Strengths (Buckingham & Clifton)

Does this sound like you...?

This is why I miss my girlfriends.

"Motherhood can be lonely! Working full-time and and having two kids makes me miss my girlfriend time so much. There is so little time to connect with them like old-times.

"Even when I do find time, I feel guilty because I'm taking time away from my kids."

Sanity check!

I just took two fantastic vacations to reconnect with the people I love.

The first was an 8-day family trip to our family's cottage. It was the best quality time I've spent with the family in ages!

The second was a weekend spa trip with a group of girls. While I missed my family very much, the bonding time with my good friends and my mom has given me a burst of energy to get through some busy and stressful times at work.

Don't forget to take time to reconnect with your friends and family...it's so important to your sanity and ultimately to your family's well-being!

The little green monster.

This theme explains why I get a tinge of jealousy when my Woo* friends have play dates with other moms they just met. I get so little time with them and they are out Wooing another mother! I can laugh about it now that I understand why, and I'll try not to let it get to me :-)

Play dates help.

I try to plan play dates at the park so I can get 20 minutes of time, albeit frequently interrupted, with my best friends. Between their schedules and mine and nap times, it's tough, but I'm relentless with my attempts.

I have also found that walking dates with my friends are a great way to entertain the baby, while getting exercise and some MUCH needed girl talk. Besides, the 3-way multi-tasking feeds my Achiever theme so well!
